The latest camera I bought for myself was a Minolta SLR camera, which lets me change the lenses whenever I want and has many of the features that normal cameras have. This camera lets me worry less about playing with the settings or focusing the photo and the price paid for it makes it worth it so much more.

Canon has grown into the rather enviable position of being the digital camera manufacturer with the biggest product line that appeals to an ever growing demographic of photographers. Everyone from the digital camera grandmas and 'pas, to prosumer photographers, to the pros crowding the top sports venues, to the paparazzi scum harassing all the big celebrities. It's an eclectic and diverse group of photo hounds to be sure, and Canon has the camera for everyone of them.

If you wear contacts or glasses, this camera has Automatic Focus, which is great when you're not sure if the subject is properly focused. Previously, I had problems sometimes with out of focus photos. If you need to, you can also use a tripod to make sure you get good photos or when you want to take a picture of your entire family. All you need to do is use the timer set to 10 seconds, and you don't need someone to stand behind the camera to take the photo. All the members of the family can be present in the photo this way.

If you've only ever taken snapshots of juniors birthday parties, then maybe you need a little upgrade. An evening photography course for a few weeks could do wonders for your camera shopping knowledge base, and your final portfolio.

Canon hasn't forgotten the pro and wanna be pro consumers out there either. Their lineup of digital SLRs has something for everyone. From their starter ($600) Digital Rebel XTi (soon to be replaced by the XSi), to their Canon EOS 5D with full frame technology (for around $2000), everyones bound to be happy.

If any digital camera manufacturer could be accused of trying to make everyone happy all the time, it's Canon. Not that they necessarily succeed all the time, but they do deserve plenty of kudos for trying. Of course, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus and others make some excellent contenders in the categories cited above. As much as I like Canon, I wouldn't hesitate to consider another manufacturer for the right reasons. Which Canon digital camera is right for you may turn out to not be a Canon after all.
