The Canon Powershot : Great All Round Camera
I recently got this camera and think it's amazing but I still need to learn all the functions. The main thing I love about this camera is the fact of an external jack for a microphone. The built in mic's in camcorders are cheap and I hate them. I own a Heil Studio Mic which I plugged into this camera and the sound was awesome.
The still shots on this camera are awesome too. They are so much clearer than I thought they would be. My old Canon camcorder takes really mediocre still shots. It also has a built in flash for still shots, which caught me by surprise. This cam is so much more superior, although I still use the older Canon from time to time.
I upgraded from my older Canon cassette tape camcorder to this. Small, lightweight, fits right in the same camera case with my Canon Eos digital camera making it easy to take both along at same time. What a difference.
When the camera turns off, the lens automatically closes. Its pretty much shoot and download because of the flash card, it is easy, simple and fast. The image stabilization and multi-facial recognition feature makes it easy to zoom and pan someone with shaky hands. My wife also likes how this camera fits into her hands unlike the older camcorder.
Only a couple of cons that I have with this camera the first is. I had to buy a fire wire cable because Canon NEVER supplies these cables, which I think, is wrong. I knew that Canon didn't supply a fire wire cable because it increases the profitability, but that was no big deal, since I have one for my old Canon camera.
Another complaint I have about this camera, is even though the price was fair, it was a lot more then my older camera. One difference though is that camera came with a neck strap and a wide angle lens and this one didn't. Come on Canon. How cheesy can you be, do you expect your the customers to shell out more cash to you for a neck strap to protect the camera.
Not really cons if you already have them but things to be aware of if you don't... No memory card included. Must be purchased separately (class 6 for best results). Battery included lasts less than 1-hr. It's my fault I had to cut my first outside recording session short because of low battery even though I had fully charged it.
