Digital Cameras Compare | Digital Camera

The camera has gone a long way since the camera obscura or dark chamber was built by an Arab scientist and the principles of the pinhole camera was written about by two philosophers in opposite parts of the world. During those times, the digital camera did not even exist in the dreams of Greek Philosopher Aristotle, Chinese Philosopher Mozi, and even perchance with advanced thinker and artist Leonardo da Vinci whose written description of the camera obscura was most thorough and comprehensive in his time.

Nowadays, a digital camera is as common as the mobile phone. Indeed, some mobile phones are equipped with digital cameras. Its precursors throughout the years were the camera obscura, the daguerreotype, the bellowed camera, the single lens reflex, the twin lens reflex, the box camera, the 35mm, the 35mm SLR, the electronic still camera, and the disposable camera. Many types of cameras were invented during the years, each possessing their own individual characteristics and yet each with the main purpose of recording images.

A digital camera is the modern version of the camera in the digital age. For capturing images it uses an electric image sensor. Initially, the camera works just like any other camera. It captures an image by capturing light. But then something happens inside the mechanisms of this modern camera so that the light is turned into electricity, which then gets converted to digital data. This is done with the use of a charge coupled device (CCD) or a complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS). Fortunately, when using any digital cameras we do not need to find out about its inner workings. All we need is a good eye, a steady hand, and the right equipment.
